The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are convening a workshop in support of the activities described in the 2017 Weather Research and Forecast Improvement Act (P.L. 115-25), which directs NOAA to work with the United States weather industry and academic partners, to ensure continuous development and transition of the latest scientific and technological advances into operations of the National Weather Service (NWS).  The workshop will focus on explaining NOAA’s current transition policies and processes, describing funding opportunities, and providing a forum to provide feedback from the academic and private sectors on how NOAA can encourage and improve the transition of mature research from the weather enterprise, particularly academia, into NOAA to meet its Weather Ready Nation mission goal.  Government, academic and private sector partners with potential research that could improve NOAA’s weather-related operations and applications in the NWS and the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) are encouraged to attend.

There were NCAS-M Fellows participating in this important conference.
