The National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) in Norman, OK and located inside the National Weather Center is accepting applications to fill one Supervisory Physical Scientist position in the NSSL Director’s Office.
This position will serve as the Deputy Director for Science at NSSL and manage and coordinate science across NSSL’s 4 programs and 3 branches. The position salary range is $143,736 – $186,854 per year (pay band 5).
Duties for the position include:
- Direct and manage scientific, technical, and engineering professionals in conducting research to improve accurate and timely forecasts and warnings of hazardous weather events such as blizzards, ice storms, flash floods, tornadoes, and lightning. Oversee and provide technical instruction in the research, development, and implementation of the organization’s programs.
- Plan, oversee, and direct program resources and operations participating fully in the overall success of the organization and oversee budget formulation and budget execution and develop collaborative proposals and initiatives for new funding; participate substantially in decisions making involving procurement actions. Serve as an organizational representative and liaison, advise and assist the Director.
