This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary (UNSEC), Interagency Meteorological Coordination Office (IMCO), with one vacancy in Silver Spring, MD. This position is also announced under vacancy number UNSEC IMCO-24-12357331-DE, which is open to all US Citizens or Nationals.
As a Social Scientist, you will perform the following duties:
- Serves as an expert advisor and interagency coordinator, bringing social and behavioral science expertise to the coordination work performed at the Interagency Meteorological Coordination Office (IMCO) in terms of mission, processes, policy, and goals.
- Facilitate and coordinate assigned ICAMS committees and sub entities mostly composed of physical scientists, including, but not limited to, Social Equity, Services, etc.
- Plans and implements organizational assessment and strategy evaluations supporting the Interagency Council on Advancing Meteorological Services (ICAMS). Facilitates and leads multidisciplinary teams that develop Meteorological/Earth system services strategy in terms of social, organizational, and cultural research applicable to federal objectives.
- Coordinates and participates in committees of physical scientists and groups as assigned. Sustains partnerships and manages collaboration on multidisciplinary teams to improve Earth system services strategizing.
