The National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Earth System Science Internship (NESSI) is accepting applications to undergraduate students for the 2025 summer program.
The NESSI summer program offers undergraduate students interested in the Earth system sciences an opportunity to conduct research with scientists and engineers from across any NSF NCAR lab on a wide range of topics including but not limited to atmospheric science, computational science, engineering, solar & space physics, and the social sciences. The program is designed to support and promote Earth system science through research, mentoring, and community building. Opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research are available.
NESSI seeks to involve students from groups that are historically underrepresented in the sciences, including Black or African-American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, female, first-generation college students, veterans, LGBTQIA+ students, and students with disabilities.
Please see the NESSI webpage for more details. Also, visit the NSF NCAR, UCAR, and UCP Student Opportunities webpage for information on our programs for students and postdocs. If you have any questions about the NESSI or any of our student programs, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Applications for the 2025 NESSI will close on January 6, 2025.
