The Aspen Institute and Coda Societies have developed a pipeline program that cultivates high-school students from underrepresented backgrounds to become leaders who will make a difference in the world through social justice and science.
Our Future Is Science (OFIS) pairs high-school students and science graduate students who will grow together. The initiative caters especially to students who identify as Black, Latinx, Indigenous American, Pacific Islander, and/or are from a rural or low-income area.
Mentors will:
- Lead committed students from around the country through a year-long virtual journey of mentorship, scientific learning, and career exploration.
- Gain experience to promote their own professional development through networking opportunities, curriculum development, and impacting the future of the scientific workforce.
- Receive an honorarium for their participation.
Science graduate students: Become an Our Future Is Science mentor to high school leaders who will combine social justice and science to change the world. Build your network, earn honorarium, boost your CV!
Applications are being accepted now through October 4, 2021.
