Shadya Sanders
Biography
Shadya Sanders is earning a PhD in the department of Atmospheric Sciences at Howard University and is a Cohort-1 NCAS-M Fellow. I am interested in the NCAS-M focus area — of Effective Communication of Climate and Weather Risk in support of the NCAS-M theme: Interdisciplinary scientific research for building resilient communities against weather extremes. My recent research experience involves collaborating with the Hazardous Weather Testbed (HWT) and National Severe Storms Labs (NSSL) to investigate the role of verbatim and gist messaging, via subjective numeracy, qualitative messaging, psychological traits, and demographic factors, to see what impacts decision makers when given uncertainty information as numerical probabilities.
