Cassandra Shivers-Williams, PhD

Biography

Cassandra Shivers-Williams earned a PhD in the department of Psychology at Howard University as a Cohort-1 NCAS-M Fellow. Cassandra was interested in the NCAS-M focus area — Integrated Social Science in support of the NCAS-M theme: Interdisciplinary scientific research for building resilient communities against weather extremes. Recent research experience involved examining factors that influence individuals’ willingness to engage in self-protective actions in the face of natural hazards. Cassandra extended this work as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies at the University of Oklahoma.
