Biography

Krystal N. Sanchez-Castañeda earned a BS in the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science at San José State University and was a Cohort-3 NCAS-M Fellow. Krystal was interested in the NCAS-M focus area of effective communication of climate and weather risk in support of the NCAS-M theme of interdisciplinary research for building healthy communities. Krystal worked on an NOAA project with Dr. Melendez (NWS) and Dr. Chiao (SJSU) that focused on total and cloud to ground climatological lightning analysis in the Caribbean region, particularly Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
