2025 AMS “Breaking the Cycle” Town Hall Meeting

The African-American diaspora’s employment numbers, and weather, water, and climate (WCH) communities continue to be alarmingly low, despite the collective efforts to enhance diversity. The significant contributions from various actors, including the WCH industries and academia have yet to yield substantial results, while we have witnessed improvements and other demographics employment numbers. Our panel discussion is an interactive collaborative platform, where we will collectively explore the reasons behind this disparity and devise innovative strategies to improve African-American employment in these sectors.

The Town Hall Meeting entitled “Breaking the Cycle”: Transforming diversity, outreach, and employment methods, and WCH at the annual AMS conference in New Orleans on Monday, January 13th, 2025 from 12:15 – 1:15 pm hosted by Kar’retta Venable and Travis Washington. This panel will be moderated by our 2 honorary co-moderators, Dr. Marshall Sheppard and CCM Allen Sealls. The goal is to have a panel of two individuals from private, academia, government, and broadcast in WCH to help answer and guide the conversation in the Townhall. It is anticipated to develop a working group to resolve this issue and proactively increase employment numbers
