Undergraduate Research in the Geosciences for Under-represented Groups

The Undergraduate Research in the Geosciences for Under-represented Groups (URG2) program features a one-week intensive mentoring experience with all program participants near Mount Rainier, a 7-week research internship, and a $7,000 stipend for the summer.

Supervised by participating Packard Fellows, research internships will take place at the fellows’ home institution (with virtual options in some cases), with support for travel and local housing for student interns provided by the program. The cohort of student interns will meet virtually throughout the summer for professional development, networking, and scientific skill-building activities. This program is open to any undergraduate student currently enrolled in a U.S. 2-year or 4-year institution. No prior coursework in earth sciences is required.

A virtual information session will be held on January 26, 2022 at 11am PST.

The application is due on February 25, 2022, 11:59pm PST.
