Whether you are just learning about us or you are a critical member of our team, we encourage you to get to know who we are.
We are… COMMUNITY.
NCAS-M is 1 of 4 NOAA’s Cooperative Science Centers, and we consist of 13 partnering institutions located across the country and in Puerto Rico.
We help develop and train students from Minority Serving Institutions to work with NOAA and NOAA-mission related organizations.
Our research efforts support NOAA’s mission, and they focuses on building resilient communities against weather extremes, developing innovation scientific observations and creating interdisciplinary research that supports creating healthy communities.
Our students receive specialized training through workshops; hands-on research and experiments; excellent collegiate instruction and a postdoctoral development programs.
We have over 80 NOAA-related active research collaborations and student trainings.
We retain 93% of our fellows, because we offer not only financial support, but the personal academic support students need to success in the STEM field.
NCAS-M supports the training, graduation and increased participation of students from traditionally underrepresented minority communities, which paves the way for more workforce-ready graduates in NOAA, NOAA-related sciences as well as in other federal agencies, academic institutions, and the private sector.
