The NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center (SPC) within the Cooperative Institute for Severe and High-Impact Weather Research and Operations (CIWRO) is currently looking for a recent Ph.D. graduate with expertise in mesoscale convective system (MCS) analysis and forecasting based on data from convection-allowing models.
The ideal candidate is someone who has a background in the development and application of technology in support of severe weather forecast operations, is highly collaborative, and can communicate well with forecasters and peer researchers. In this position, the incumbent will work directly with development meteorologists and operational forecasters at the SPC and will have opportunities to interact with NOAA and academic scientists within the NWS, NOAA, and the broader meteorological community.
